Course stages — step by step
Open a traffic file
Visit the school with your passport, visa, Emirates ID and eye test certificate. The school opens your traffic file with RTA (or the relevant transport authority) — this is your learner record.
Theory classes (8 lectures)
Attend 8 theory lectures covering UAE road rules, traffic signs, lane discipline and hazard awareness. Some schools offer online theory classes. You must pass a theory exam (35 questions, 12-minute timer) before moving to practical lessons.
Yard / parking training (8–10 classes)
Learn basic car control in a closed yard: parallel parking, hill start, garage parking and emergency stop. Each class is 40 minutes. You take a yard/parking test at the end of this stage.
Road training (20–24 classes)
Drive on public roads with your instructor: lane changes, roundabouts, highway merging, school zones and night driving. The number of classes depends on your progress — 20 is the minimum for new learners.
Final road test
