Theory test preparation

The RTA theory test consists of 35 multiple-choice questions. You need to score at least 24 correct (roughly 69%) to pass. Questions cover road signs, right of way, safe following distances, emergency procedures and UAE-specific traffic law.

Road signs & signals

Warning, prohibition, mandatory and information signs. Know the shape, colour and meaning of each category.

Right of way

Roundabout priority, give way rules, lane discipline and merging on highways. The most commonly failed topic.

Safe driving practice

Following distance rules, overtaking procedure, night driving, adverse weather and emergency vehicle protocol.

Preparation tip

Do at least 2–3 practice sessions on the actual test routes before your exam date. Most driving schools offer this as part of their advanced packages.
