2. How fines escalate

Speeding fines rise in bands: from AED 300 for up to 20 km/h over, to AED 2,000 plus vehicle confiscation and 23 black points beyond 60 km/h over. Red-light running and dangerous driving sit at the top of the scale, while the most serious offence — driving under the influence — carries an AED 25,000 fine, 23 points and confiscation.
